In Memoriam, Barbara E. Stone
The PPSCC is very saddened to share that Barbara E. Stone of East Sandwich, MA passed away on September 30, 2018.
Barbara was a member of the Pastel Society of America and founding member of the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod, serving as President for many years. She won many awards and honors for her art over the years, including the PPSCC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013.
A public memorial service and celebration of Barbara's life will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 12 noon at West Parish Church, 2049 Meetinghouse Road, West Barnstable, MA. More information can be found here.
Welcome PPSCC's new President, Dave Kaphammer
Dave Kaphammer takes over from former PPSCC President, Shelly Eager. Dave, along with Janet Schwartz, coordinated and ran our annual "For Pastels Only" exhibition in 2018. Here's what he has to say:
"I am humbled and honored to serve as president of this organization. I was brought in to participate in the PPSCC by Shelly, who made a strong case for giving back to the group. She also took steps to make it easier to contribute - using conferencing and online tools to allow those of us off-cape to participate, and documenting the work of each officer and position so new people will be able to get up to speed easily.
"As for my vision of the upcoming year - I want us to be open to new ideas. We don't always have to do things the same way we've always done them. The online member show is a good example of doing new things. I'm open to any new ideas - send me an email!
"There is some work to do, but it doesn't need to feel like work. From my experience with FPO, it can be fun, and collaborative, and a lot less work than you'd think. I'd like to encourage everybody in the organization to consider pitching in and help out any way you can. That only makes our group stronger and better, and at the same time connects us together as artists and friends.”

Announcing new PPSCC Vice President
PPSCC welcomes Jody Shyllberg as our new Vice President as of January 1 this year. Our exiting Vice President, Rachel Avenia, served our organization with a great deal of dedication and was instrumental in updating our working process. Because of the kind of energy that Rachel gives to everything she is involved in she felt she had to resign her position as Vice President so that she could devote herself to her career and her family. We want to thank her for everything she did for our organization.
This past year Jody stepped up to chair our first online member show and did a wonderful job of researching the process and handling its implementation. We know that Jody will be a great asset to us and look forward to a rewarding collaboration with her.

Our New Logo
PPSCC is 20!!! And, we are just delighted with our new logo. PPSCC has members from 30 states, and many from all over the commonwealth of Massachusetts and surrounding New England states.. The society was founded on Cape Cod, and it is home base for our board, thats why we felt it was important to stick with our roots and incorporate the shape of Cape Cod into our new logo.
There are many ways you can become more involved with PPSCC and meet some of our 250 members! You can volunteer to help with our Annual shows: our national For Pastels Only and our Member Show, or work on a specific project.
Whether you have a few hours to donate for a specific task or would like to be a part of our Board of Directors, we would love to hear from you! We are currently looking for someone who would like to become involved with PPSCC Marketing and Public Relations.
You can read more on our Volunteer page.
